Updated Tucson Community Members about the following

  • NAFA Executive Members switching to Gmail Suite. This will provide NAFA executive members with easier communication and collaboration.
  • Our Plan on improving the website.
  • Plan of official NAFA Facebook page.
    • People will be able to Like, Subscribe.
    • No need to send friend requests.
    • There is a general need for social media revamp.

  • Need up to date membership information. Have not been updated since the last few years.
  • We can probably assume that general membership has expired for most of the members.
    • Life Membership cost : $250.00
  • If we announce that the general membership has expired for all, we need to make sure that all community members come to an agreement.

We will work on having all the membership information available at the website. Will add ability for members to check their membership status, membership expiration date and pay for membership. – Anil Thapa

IRS Filing and Annual Filing Instructions will be available in the Google Drive – Anil Thapa

We will also need to make sure we provide receipts to individuals that would like to donate to the NAFA organization.

Discussions About Advisory Board

  • Advisory Board is not mentioned in the current ByLaws
  • There have been advisory boards in the past with 5-7 members.
  • Helps advise the executive team and ensures checks and balances.
  • Planning on periodic meetings with the Advisory Board
  • Executive Members meet monthly
  • Meet with Advisory Board quarterly
  • Som Dahal (Outgoing President) has agreed to be on the Advisory Board.
  • Need to figure out members willing to be part of the Board
  • General consensus is that the Advisory Board should not be made bigger than 5 or 7Smaller the better.
  • Need to mix up demographics and members from different backgrounds

Other Items that were brought up

  • All executive members need to read the existing ByLaws and be familiar with it.
    • Obtain the latest copy from Gyan Neupane.
    • ByLaws requires lot of improvements such as:
      • Addition of Executive Committee Election Process including Oath
      •  Mention of Advisory Board
  • General need of communication improvement between the NAFA executive team and NAFA community members. 
    • Need to bring back the same kind of excitement we used to have 10 years ago.
